Connecting to PlaySim
PlaySim runs OpenSimulator, so you connect with a third-party viewer rather than through this website. Any Second Life–compatible viewer that lets you add your own grid will work — and any avatar you already have elsewhere can come with you.
1. Create an avatar
Register here. You choose a first and last name; together they are your login name in the viewer.
2. Install a viewer
Firestorm is the usual choice — be sure to download the build that supports OpenSim, not the Second Life–only one. Alchemy and Kokua also work.
3. Add the grid
Put this in the viewer’s grid manager and hit apply:
Login URIgrid.playsim.net:8002
In Firestorm it is Preferences → OpenSim → Add new grid. Paste the URI, click Apply, and PlaySim appears in the grid dropdown on the login screen.
4. Sign in
Choose PlaySim from the grid list, enter your first name, last name and password, and connect.
Hypergrid
Hypergrid is enabled, so you can travel to other OpenSim grids and they can visit here. Your hypergrid address is your name followed by @grid.playsim.net:8002.
If login fails
“Error connecting to the desired location” almost always means the region is starting up rather than that your password is wrong. Wait a moment and try again. If it persists, check the status on the home page — if the grid reads offline there, it is not you.
